Map existing business model and spot opportunities, dependencies, and challenges
The goal of the template is to understand your customers and customer relationships, formulate value propositions, see what resources do you have, and assess how your business is performing. This template works well for startups, entrepreneurs, and senior executives.
The Business Model Canvas was created by Alexander Osterwalder, Co-founder of Strategyzer.
Map your existing business model
Map your entire business model using nine building blocks: Key Partners, Activities, Resources, Value Proposition, Customer Relationships, Channels, Customer Segments, Cost Structure, and Revenue Streams.
Define all the main Customer Groups/Segments (people or businesses) for who you are creating your value and with whom your company interacts. They may be paying customers, as well as simple users.
For each segment, you have a specific Value Proposition. Each Value Proposition includes bundles of products and services that bring value to you customers.
Channels include all the touchpoints through which you communicate with your customers and deliver value.
Customer Relationships are a type of relationship that you are building with your customers and the feedback that you get from them.
The Revenue Stream shows what pricing scheme do you use and what are your cash flows.
Then you describe the Key Resources of your business β assets, and infrastructure that you need in order to operate and deliver the Value Proposition.
Key Activities show things your company needs to do in order to operate and perform well.
Key Partnerships are about the strategic relationships that your business establishes with other companies or people. It's needed as you don't always have all the needed Key Resources and you can't always perform all the Key Activities.
Once you understand the infrastructure of your business model, you will get an idea of its Cost Structure.
You work with each building block step by step to map your entire business model, see the full picture in a single space and understand the current state of your business.
π Hint: Powerful Fibery relations make it easy to connect all the mentioned building blocks. For example, you can easily check what Value Proposition you have for each Customer Segment or what Key Activities depend on your Key Partnerships.
